In years passed, my family and I have not participated in handing out Halloween candy. This year I'd like to give not only candy out, but a positive Christian message with it. I'd also like to use different candies as 'examples' of a Christian witness, such as:

Peppermints - could represent the blood of Jesus - it washes us whiter than snow

Caramels - He sticks closer than a brother to us

Apple flavored candies - We are the apple of His eye

If you can think of anything else, please contribute! Also, let's take this opportunity to witness to our neighbors!!!

God bless!

AngelBaby,
I understand where you are coming from, but when my entire cul-de-sac is decorated with spider webs and jack o'lanterns, I feel the need to take back from satan by spreading the Word of God by using the opportunity of parents and children coming to MY door! If one child or one parent is changed, then it will be worth it all. Open your eyes and see where you can let YOUR light shine today!!!

I am just amazed (and saddened) at all the negative responses! I only asked for suggestions on what sayings I could put on different candies. I guess I put this in the wrong category................

It's nice that you want to spread the word of God. But, Halloween is the last night you want to do it. Children interested in candy only, and your message will go out with the garbage. It nice that you feel enlightened by your religion, but don't you think it's an imposition to pass the words onto those who do not want to hear them. It sends a negative message out and stereotypes Christians as being pushy. Yes, I'm not a Christian, and no I don't have a problem with the religion. However, I do have a problem with people sending messages my way. I love to talk about religion and understand why Christians believe what they believe, but I don't want to be converted or hear messages from God.

Halloween is not about Satan. It's a stupid tradition about candy and dressing up and having fun. Some religions might make it about that, but not the majority of the people who celebrate it. As far as letting my light shine, I consider myself to be very spiritually enlightened. I've found spiritual meaning in my life, but I don't push it on others because I realize that what works for me does not work for everyone else. If people ask, then I explain. It's fine your religion works for you, but by spreading your word, I understand you want to enlighten people and do good by God, people are extremely turned off by it unless they happen to be of your religion too.

Kids want free candy, not a sermon. Using the occasion to spread your belief might seem thoughtful to you, and I am sure you have good intentions, but it is rather tasteless and will go unheeded by the kids. Would you like your children, if you have them, to come home with messages from the Koran, or invitations to a free dinner at the Hari Krishna Temple?

What?? Halloween has never had anything to do with Satan and should have nothing to do with Christianity. Why do many of "your" people continue to attempt to take over everything?

Halloween is just good clean fun and there is nothing evil about it. Stop spreading lies.

Halloween isn't about God. It is about kids having fun. Just because you believe in your religion does mean you have to shove it down other people's throats. If my daughter got you acndy, I would make her bring it back.
It is ok to have your beliefs but they are yours, keep then to yourself and let the children have fun.
