I guess you could look at that from two sides . In one way should we profit from tragedy , is the question . The other is the reason people write these books is because that is what the public buys !
So in my opion perhaps the ones who do this are just very smart , if what they want is the money !

Life is stranger than fiction. If someone can eloquently write a profound piece of literature that captures the essence of a horrific event, why shouldn't they profit? Writing a book takes insane amounts of research, especially true-crime novels, so I don't see a problem with them getting paid.
