Schindler's List is an Academy Award-winning 1993 movie based on the book Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, published in the United States as Schindler's List and subsequently re-issued in Commonwealth countries under that name as well.
The movie, adapted by Steven Zaillian and directed by Steven Spielberg, relates the tale of Oskar Schindler, a German Catholic businessman who was instrumental in saving the lives of over one thousand Polish Jews during the Holocaust.
The title refers to a list of the names of 1,100 Jews whom Schindler hired to work in his factory and kept from being sent to the concentration camps.
Schindler's List consistently ranks amongst the finest movies of all time. It is currently ranked as 9th best film by the American Film Institute, and, as of September 18, 2006, rated number six on the top 250 films on the Internet Movie Database with a 8.8/10 rating.

I normally do not watch violent movies, but I wanted to see this one because it is history. I felt safe watching this movie about the holocaust because Steven Spielburg directed it. I trusted him to tell me Mr. Schindler's story without overdoing the violence just to sell a movie. I was not dissapointed, he did a great job. The acting was flawless, everyone in the theater cried real tears at the atrocities that happened not so long ago. It is a movie that will teach us all that this should never happen again.

Extremely detailed movie documenting not only the Holocaust but the development of a man's sense of right and wrong as well. The cinematography in the film is amazing. Also extremely moving in the end.

Yes. Good. Rough. Deep. See it.
Just remember - 11 million people of slavic descent were tortured and killed along with the Jews. No one seems to recognize this for some reason, but people from Poland, Ukraine, Armenia you name it were snatched off the streets and sent on trains to unspeakable horrors.

This is the type of movie I call a "once around".
It's SO DEEP that I can only watch it once, and never again!
It's touching, moving, heart-wrenching, yet beautiful.
Other movies like this type, to me are "Glory", "The Patriot", "Amistad", "Braveheart", and some others I can't think of off the top of my head.
