It's for 'the Gondoliers'... I don't know any Gilbert and Sullivan, not that I would have done that at an open audition anyway. Hwever, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what would be appropriate? Any particular style? Or maybe someone out there has a suggestion for an actual piece?

much love, LJ xxx

by the way- I'm I8 and I have a wide vocal range (i.e. I can sing alto and soprano comfortably).

I would like a lead part, but am more concerned at the moment wioth choosing the right song for the audition- hopefully one that shows my range and shows I can sing in a way that will fit the show.

Any quality song that shows off your range & ability would be good. Really shouldn't matter what type of show for which you are auditioning.
I was once told by a highly respected director that one should NOT audition for a musical with a song from that show, or with one written by the same composer. Good advice, IMHO.

i do no longer comprehend if it has something to do along with your sexual orientation, whether it actual makes you unusual. Gilbert and Sullivan musicals are annoying, even on the point with an entire solid, nevertheless they seem very often happening. The track, outdoors of the context of the teach isn't some thing even a self-respecting gay individual could call up as a delightful little 'ditty' to sing in easy terms for the sake of making a track. gay, right this moment or bisexual, it truly is in basic terms unusual.

Depends on your age and voice - assuming that you are auditioning for the part of one of the Venetian young ladies in the chorus I suggest something like "We Said We'd Never Look Back" from Salad Days. It would give the producer an idea of the range of your voice, which is all he or she needs at this stage.

Good luck

A Gilbert & Sullivan audition then surely it would have to be a Gilbert & Sullivan song?

I am the very model of a modern major general. It's a difficult song to sing, but it will show that you are up to it.

The flowers that bloom in the spring,
Tra la,
Breathe promise of merry sunshine —
As we merrily dance and we sing,
Tra la,
We welcome the hope that they bring,
Tra la,
Of a summer of roses and wine,
Of a summer of roses and wine.
And that's what we mean when we say that a thing
Is welcome as flowers that bloom in the spring.
Tra la la la la,
Tra la la la la,
The flowers that bloom in the spring.
