About 10 years ago my girlfriend was sexually assaulted when she was a child. She seems to have put the past behind her and locked what happened away somewheres in her mind. But it has always been a problem with our sex lives.
What I am truly concerned about is that it seems during the night at some point while she's sleeping she takes her nails to her vagina and claws at it till she bleeds, not knowing what happened until the morning when she awakens.
Please any help of any kind would be most appreciated. Thank you.

She needs to get professional help for this. End of story.

First off, she needs counselling. I have been there and it will be of great benefit to her. Clawing herself until she bleeds is dangerous, and she could seriously hurt herself. Once she has gone, go together so that you do have a better understanding.

Once she works through it she will be much better able to cope with a normal sex life. Be patient, the process takes awhile and if you lover her, encourage and stand by her.

Do not enable her, or tell her to move past it, she is safe now blah blah blah. Be proactive.

Best of luck to you both.

No one on Yahoo answers can help you. Take her to a professional. Its for her own good and she'll appreciate you for doing that. I'll pray for her.

She needs to seek counseling. That is the only way she will be able to move past this.

You both need to see a psychologist, she's certainly not over it. She needs to deal with but also be there for her. Good luck, may God get you with this!

This is a job for a professional therapist; suggest that she find one and support her as she goes.
