Personally i think it is very important for public places to be as clean as possible i have a real thing about it if somewhere looks dirty i won't eat or drink in the place, it is all about the look of a place too if people don't look after public places then everything will get run down and we will just live in filth!

You don't even wanna know what kind of crap can get caught up in a carpet in a public area. I work in a bar that has a lounge with a carpet, and let's just say that I would never let anything touch that floor if it were going inside my body.

I work in a hotel and our carpets are proffessionally cleaned 3 times a year. If they are stained or dirty in the meantime we steam clean them and use cleaning chemicals. It is important to have clean public area flooring, I wouldn't walk bear foot in other hotels though cos you can't guarantee they have the same procedure!

Yes, absoluetly and in most cases it's not done enough. I have to stay in hotels quite often and I think about how long it's been since the carpet has been cleaned and what has gone on in that room before I've stayed there. Yuck!
