I agree with you in that this is old, but it began a long time ago. While trade sanctions were imposed years ago, Japan continued trade with them (some legal but a lot of it was illegal). Pakistan being a good ally of the US provided nuclear technology and China supplied some of the fissionable materials....but we were at odds with China prior to 1978...Both China and Russia continued to supply food stuffs, medicines, etc despite US opposition. The US sought to gain a strangle-hold on this tiny country as we attempted with Cuba...but shielded by both Russia and China our ploy didn't work. A war with any large country would be short....there are only 23,000,000 people in the whole country, their economy is in shambles as they haven't been able to engage in open trade (though Japan continued imports), Kim is a megalomaniac, and he and his deputies are about in the same league as Hitler and his co-horts. But therein is the crux of the problem...if North Korea makes a feeble effort to attack the US, and we retaliate with warheads, that bonds China to a mutual defense treaty to North Korea and Russia has similar treaties with China and North Korea. And with the present state of world affairs, we are losing friends faster than gaining allies, and with our commitment to the Middle East, we would be hard pressed to do it on our own...remember that the UN is financed by its members, and if the majority see that the US is not so good, they with-hold troops and money and a UN effort will fail. This problem should have been solved by negotiation many years ago, but the US's belief in their superiority prevented it. We need some good people to handle the mess, not Conde Rice...she is too weak, we need Colin Powell and we need to stop our posturing about sitting down on a one-to-one basis...we need to defuse a messy situation or allow China to handle it. The population of Shanghai and its environs is almost equal to the entire population of North Korea. China will accept sanctions as will Russia but toned down from the US demands...starvation is not a successful weapon. North Korea is prepared for war, and they have built underground facilities to withstand attacks...the people were issued handbooks on how to create underground hospitals, storerooms and such over two years ago.. Just today the news released a prime story that our Naval and Aircraft positions in East Asia have been improved...so can you understand why North Korea might be a little paranoid?

The threated nuclear force against us this morning in a round about way. There is a great artice on www.cnn.com saying that the united states agression is "an act of war" and will be dealt with accordingly. All it takes is one bomb being deployed at one of our interests and the war will start. I keep hearing people say North Korea will be a push over and its laughable at best. Remember when people said Iraq would be a 6 month operation, or we'd be "in and out" of afganistan? North Korea teaches their people that the west is evil and wants every man woman and chid dead. know that if we go to war with them, they will never give up until every man, woman, and child is dead.

Yes, I'm sick of them and all the other little pipsqueaks that are trying to threaten our way of life as well as the relative tranquility of the world. As long as a'ssholes like that are allowed to rule countries full of sheeple, we will have never ending threats to our safety and well being. I say they are threatening us, let's kill them. All of 'them'. That means the A-rabs, even the so called peaceful ones because they are not policing their own. They jettison them from their own countries and unleash them on the world; rather like dumping toxic waste into a long flowing river. I say we've had enough; we're tired of it. No more Mr. Nice guy with politically correct 'surgical' wars and guaranteed post war rebuilding financed by us. Blow them all the f'uck up!
By the way, your avatar looks kinda like a chick.
