Halle Berry and Marilyn Monroe have both been instrumental in the advancement of African American women. Marilyn Monroe helped Ella Fitzgerald to play at the Mocambo nightclub (at the time segregated), which furthered Fitzgerald's career and the careers of many African American women performers.
Halle Berry was the first African American woman to win an Academy Award for a Leading Actress role for "Monster's Ball". Her achievement has also been noted for the advancement of African American women.

Both are beautiful but they have (or had in Marilyn's case) men trouble...can't keep a man. Want children but do not have any. Beauty doesn't mean happiness.

I think they've both been overwhelmed by notoriety. I think they enjoyed being known as sex idols but they've been hounded about it and not been allowed a normal life. It has to get to the point of causing mental and emotional difficulties, and I think it has/had to both.
