I have had three dreams at different times in my life where I have been in a situation where I was being forced to hang myself. I have never died in my dream, and the story is never the same, but I am always attempting to killy myself by hanging. Any suggestions on what this could mean?

The first dream I was arrested in a foreign country that I've never been to and was sentenced to death. I had to jump off a platform with a rope around my neck that was attached to a wire. Every time I got to the end of the wire, I was still alive and had to go back to the top and jump off again. Another time I had injured my brother by accident and had to hang myself to escape people who were angry with me. The other time, I don't remember the dream anymore, but was found sleep walking. It was the only time I've ever walked in my sleep. I don't have suicidal thoughts now and have never thought of killing myself by hanging or in any other way. The two dreams I remember are so vivid and the other one, that I forget now, was very vivid at the time.

Some of the dreams are absolutely meaningless.
On the other hand, some may be a reflection of the state of the that a person is in.If you think about something all the time then it may also come in your dreams. Even if you don't think about something as often but somewhere in mind your you have a fear about something then it may also reflect in your dream.
I never take my dreams seriously. When I was in school & college, I was a very studious kind of a guy and good grades matterred a lot to me so I always used to have a dream where there are only couple of minutes for the exam and I am stuck in traffic but I never took it seriously and in reality something like that never happened to me.

I think you need to take a look at what maybe going on in your life now. Are there any aspects where you are feeling overwhelmed. Many times our dreams no matter how tragic they may seem mirror an area of our life that is unfinshed or incomplete be it in a personal, emotional, social or financial way. It could mean that being forced to hang yourself could be more of being put in a situation where your morals are being put to the test. I'd really like to know more if you care to share.

Nothing at all. a dream is just that ... a dream and all these so called psychics and BS people telling you it means such and such are doing it for cash and will always have ways to prevent it for CASH...I dream lots of things and have been for 50 years too and all of them were a lot of me dead at war.. I have seen lots of action and I am still here and I will be for some time to come. Go to sleep and read a good book without death in it prior to sleeping at night. You are still here are you???

Dream of killing yourself = give up
Dream of killing yourself but fail = struggle

No one is forcing you. it is you your subconscious mind trying to tell yous something. Normally, if you dream of death, it is a departure or warning. In your case, you are giving up something in life or struggle to give up or hang on something. Having that projected in the dream to tell you that you are not being respected. Find the death in dream is a way to vent it out to release your helpless feeling. Sometimes, it has nothing to do with whether you have suicidal thought. That killng yourself is just a symbol of giving up. Not dying is a symbol of struggling.

Anything can happen in a dream, and that does not mean it is going to happen, maybe you had a bad dream because you ate too much, or had a bad day or you were too tired, there are lots of reasons to have dreams like that.

wow...have you watched a lot of depictions of hanging?!
have asthma or some other problem that might remind you of asphyxiation? sleep apnea, but you're afraid of water and would never just 'drown' in your dreams?!
Someone in your life who you feel is pushing you to a choking edge?
Some passive-aggressive thing...who is "forcing you" to kill yourself...that's gotta be a relatively uncommon dream scenario?

do you feel out of control in any aspect of your life?
this can be one meaning.
it could also mean that you fear something that you may not be able to get out of.

and like Fraud said " some times a cigar is just a cigar"
