Are there any restrictions for changing back any leftover Morocco Dirhams? For instance, only a certain amount?

For up to 5000 US Dollars worth, there are no restrictions whatsoever, you can change Moroccan money back to your currency at any Bureau De Change without further ado. The only consideration to take into mind is that Exchange Bureaus charge a hefty comission on any transaction, so changing money is a loss, and reverting the excess money back to your currency is another loss. I also agree with the wise notion of Ms. (Safiya D) who is apparently an expert on Moroccan questions, that you should keep all the exchange receipts with you until you are safely back home. The best practice is to use the widespread ATM machines and withdraw cash on need throughout your trip. These machines are everywhere in Morocco and I have used them for years, with my bank account outside Morocco, without a single glitch. However taking cash money out of the country in excess of 5000 US Dollars is prohibited, unless you had brought it into the country from abroad. If for some reason you plan to travel into Morocco with a lot of money in cash (ATM Machines function nicely everywhere, you get to draw Moroccan money from your account at the official exchange rates that you could NEVER get by changing cash, why would you wanna take cash?) and think that you will not spend it all inside Morocco and there is a likelihood that you will be departing Morocco with more than 5000 USD cash, then do declare it upon entry to the country. Just show the customs officer the cash that you are bringing into the country and you will get a receipt for it. If challenged during embarkation (departure) present the declaration receipt and you will be allowed to take out anything up to the declared sum that you brought in.

Hi there, I had once some dirhams left, and I went to the Bureau De Change in Mohammed V airport and asked for them to be changed to Pound Sterling, few minutes before my flights and I was surprised that I got them exchanged without a single question, however I can't remember if they asked me for the initial receipt of any money exchange I had upon my arrival to Morocco.
