Galvanized pipe can be gotten at LOWS, MENARD'S and some hardware stores, it's not used much anymore because of corrosion inside the pipe, give this some thought before going to galvanize? Plastic in the heavy gage works very good and is easy to work with, some don't use the pipe cleaner but it is best, it makes for a better joint. If you do go for the plastic, buy a plastic pipe cutter, they are not expensive and worth every penny.

the water isn't going to hurt you, the discoloration is simply rust. Galvanized piping is steel piping with a coating on it to prevent it from rusting. Over time, the coating wears out and the steel will be exposed to water, hence it rusts. The rust can either stay stuck to the walls of the pipe or break free and be in suspension as tiny particles, micron size and larger. You have some options. A total re pipe, can be expensive. A point of use filter, mounts on the faucet and removes particles, chlorine, and other solids and impurities, roughly 30 bucks. And the least is to let the water run for about 30 seconds before you use it for drinking, cooking, whatever. This flushes the line sort of. City water is treated with numerous chemicals to begin with to make it "safe". If the color concerns you, run the water until it clears, then use it. If the house sat idle for a time or the water was turned off, over time the rust will go away by itself most likely or at the least reduce to a point where you don't notice it anymore.

NOBODY uses galvanized pipe for sewer lines. You should use either the plastic or ductile iron. These are available at a plumbing supply store, Ferguson Enterprises is a big nation wide store that would carry it.

galvanized pipe doesn't do well as sewer pipe, especially when run thru concrete; that's why its been replaced by plastic for the most part. The plastic does well when protected from the sun (pvc is allergic to UV) and will do fine for sewer purposes, since its excellent for low-pressure applications

Most pipes the size you are looking for are made of cast iron.

Just where or if you can get galvanized pipes of that size is beyond me.
