in floor drain having 4 1/4" drain going down to sewer under house needs replacement. I cannot find any place that has or sells such. They want to sell plastic, but I dont want that kind of stuff in the house.

They probably don't sell it because it's not up to code any more. You should go with the plastic to stay legal.

Having suffered a collapsed iron sewer line under a slab foundation -- a nightmare beyond imagination -- I can see why modern plumbing codes no longer permit it.

Why do you not want "that kind of stuff" in the house?

Why? There is nothing wrong with PVC. It is strong, durable & more than adaquate for a drain line. It is also a lot cheaper then Galvanized or copper.

pvc is better then that galvanized stuff come on who makes a potato launcher from galvinized nobody use pvc
