I know, right? But it's okay, us Mets fans get used to it. We don't need all that media hype bullshit. The only thing that matters is that the Mets are still in the game and the Yanks aren't. Go Mets!!

Ever since Pedro Martinez announced that he was gonna go ahead and do his rotator cuff surgery, everyone's just been letting the Mets do their thing and seeing how they deal with the loss of one of their most talented pitchers.
The media isn't letting the Yankees off the hook because with the lineup and pitching they have, there's no reason why they should lose that badly, even if the Tigers are really good this year. Plus, we all know how the media gravitates toward negativity, so Derek Jeter failing as a leader, or Alex Rodriguez stinking up the joint in the postseason again, or Randy Johnson laying an egg in his only outing, or George Steinbrenner talking about firing Joe Torre (again) are sexier, more dramatic stories. The Yankees, the media, they're all drama queens, lol.
Anyway, let the playoffs run their course. I'm willing to bet that if the Mets get to the World Series, people will be talking about them and not the Yankees.

The day the Mets beat the Dodgers and wrapped up the series, the morning papers had A-Rod as the lead bacl page headline and photo. We Met fans are used to this junk, no matter how well we do, it's only second rate to a Yankee disappointment.
To the fool who said that the Mets have no fans, you are dumb. The Mets drew 3.5 million to Shea this year. Yankee fans weren't going to the ballpark in those numbers again untill AFTER the Yankees won two of their recent 4 world series'. Remember how "The Boss" was using that to get a new ballpark, and even threatened to move the team to Jersey.

I think it's terrible. But then again I'm convinced that George Steinbrenner made a Faustian deal for the Yankees success over the past several years and payment has now come due.
Seriously, though, I think the reason that the other team gets more press than the Mets is because of their big name players. They spend and spend and spend to the point where they're losing money every game but it doesn't seem to matter to them as long as they buy the biggest names on the market.

I do. ESPN had a reporter at Shea Stadium yesterday and instead of talking about the Mets he was reporting on the Joe Torre decision. I told my husband that the Yankees were doing it on purpose to take the attention away from the Mets and he laughed at me. It wouldn't surprise me if it were true...

i think it is funny that the Boss gets more press for doing nothing than the Mets do for moving on to the NLDC...but the Yankees are and will always be the biggest team in town...love it or hate it

Funny you should say that. My husband was just saying last night (he's a Yankee fan) that he would NOT put it past George S. dragging out his Torre decision to steal the spotlight from the NY Mets.
He even said that it's over already and move on! There is NO MORE news to report on the Yankees.

You see? That is why I hate the Yankees. One of the many reasons. I get real bored with that kind of bias.
