That some moments in our history are so great they exist solely to be captured on film to be shared throughout the generations?

I feel this way whenever I see the picture of the crowds dancing on top of the Berlin Wall, or Neil Armstrong first setting foot on the moon. Also some things are just so iconic they become a part of our shared heritage; the poster of a jump-suited Elvis everyone has on their bedroom wall (not literally everyone..), or Steve McQueen about to jump over the wire on his motorbike in The Great Escape.

Do you agree?

Good morning. Yes I totally concur. Those moments in time were captured perfectly. The attack on the world trade center will forever live on in our memories in more than one pictured moment. The first plane hitting, the second plane hitting, the collapse of the first, the collapse of the second, the frantic fleeing of the area in a complete cloud of smoke, the recovery efforts. I'd better close for now, because I keep thinking of more!! Great question, thanks for the memories.

Absolutely, my friend. This is very true, i think that if we didn't get to catch these moments in a viewable format, people would be left in the dark as to what happened etc.

People would start using their imaginations, which isn't a bad thing, however, there would be many different interpretations of what happened, which would make the moment seem less 'great'.

Yes totally agree with you, we have so many wonderful pieces of history on film, lots of them good moments and some of them sad moments but they are all worth seeing and sometimes words are not enough, seeing the whole picture is.

I half agree,Till you get to Elvis and steve mcqueen, tthey are only pretending, its just showmanship not to be overgloryfied, if you got a picture of the real escapist in the real camp, that would be somethin.

See if you can make God to believe an atheist. That would be something to hang on the wall.
