Interesting question. Its suprising how people who believe in god want to kill those who dont believe in him. And not the other way round. I refer to the history where the non believers were killed and thought to be savages. I in my own opinion. I think its easier to believe in an all powerful begin who controls everything. It means you dont have to question what is around you, you accept it as faith. Or blame the devil. Than not to believe. Creationist are closed minded because their belief say dont worry have faith. To reliquinish their faith makes them feel vulnerable and exposed to their on inner weaknesses. They are taught to think inside a box never to question gods will. An Evolutionist asks questions trys to find answers and if those questions lead to more questions then he will keep digging. If he gets an answer he doesnt like he trys to understand it and not say its the devils work or gods will. Those terms can explain alot to some one who doesnt understand the nature of things or the the unexplainable. For me I see god as a mental crutch to those who cant except that we can stand up on our own mentally and still be responisable for our actions. And on a final note why do different groups who believe in god fight amongst themselves to. After all there is only one god isnt there? Oh and why is the Vatican rich, The Church of England one of the largest land owner in the uk. Afterall it isnt greed that drives them is it. Why do believers have to pay for their faith? If the God idea was created today it would be seen as a scam to get you to part with ur money. If it looks to good to be true it often is.
Just the opinion of one man.

Well, most of the evidence supports the idea that the theory of evolution as proposed by Darwin is not correct.

It seems to be the evolutionists who have the blind faith because of their dogma and refuse to accept the possibility that there may be a creator. They would then have to abandon ideologies like eugenics, atheism, communism etc

The best evidence against the theory of evolution is where Darwin hoped to find it most - in the fossil record.

And before I get the usual abuse, I am a scientists and have a PhD to prove it. I'm just hoping for the survival of the fittest theory soon so that these questions will eventually die out!

If the universe and all living things was created by a God inferring that things cannot evolve then that beggars the question.....................................who or what created the god that created everything else?????

I have my own theory about God or Gods. I reason that Gods were invented by ancient beings (humans) to explain a world which they did not understand. Thus gods for all sorts of things were invoked such as Thor the God of Thunder, there are other notables for things like volcanoes, the wind, the sea, harvest, the sun, the moon, war, but notably not peace. If you can think of any more then post as another answer.
So, is it that creationists don't or refuse to understand the planet they live on. Or is it down to dogma they have been spoon fed from birth or what.
And where have they learnt their brainwashing techniques from?
Scary!!??

I suppose Creationist could ask the same question of Evolutionist. The way I look @ it is this -- Theory is the key word here. Creation is not a theory, but a fact. Even Darwin, had discounted the theory of Evolution before he died. I don't think the human race is capable of accepting the mystery of life and how it is formed... they are always asking questions -- why? how? when? who? Not that asking questions is a bad thing, but we need to be able to trust that God is bigger than all of those questions.

Personally, I cannot believe that I washed up ashore as a jelly fish, evolved into something else and got up, scratched my head and said -- hey! Look @ me, I've got a whole new form and Hey! I can speak!!!! I'm sorry. Evolution just doesn't cut it with me. However, I know a lot of men and women I might like to think came from APES.

Its a combination of their religious beliefs and the fact that there are so many misinformation groups out there pushing the belief that there are real scientific reasons to believe in creationism.
There are not. But that does not stop the con-men from pushing that idea. There is a lot of money to be made pushing creationism.

Look at the ID crowd like Behe and Dembski.
They have done no research, published no peer-reviewed papers, have not even submitted a paper for peer review. When they give lectures and do tours, it is to churches and to religious groups. They do not even attempt to do real science.

So the reason so many people are stubborn about creationism is that there are so many con artist telling them that there are reasons to be creationist.

because they are blinkered and not open to any other suggestions other than a supreme being (not Diana Ross) created the world.

I personally believe in the Darwin theory but I am open to listen to others peoples beliefs and accept them without turning around and being rude by saying "You are blasphemous" or "that is just nonsense - God created the world" You normally find the creationist are rather rude when it comes to others beliefs.

IMO (so don't flame me as it an opinion) Religion has caused nothing but war since it was founded - Have you ever heard of religions creating peace amongst men on a world wide scale? No - they all battle and argue !!!

Grrrr DONT GET ME STARTED ! lol ;o)

Because they live their life by their faith and feel it is an offense to God to suggest that life develops in any other way the way in which the bible supports. Which is fair enough I suppose.

I'm not a creationist or a Christian, but I should point out that the theory of evolution currently does have some startling holes in it and is far from having enough evidence to completely support it.

To sit and consider in a reasonable way any other options would mean considering the whole of their faith, which would lead to them questioning themselves and who they are as people.
This can be a difficult and uncomfortable situation, and as a result they would probably prefer to remain ignorant and continue with the status quo (not the band!!) And so, in order to continue in their own happy but ignorant worlds they convince themselves that the creation theory is true despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary!

They are both just as stubborn. Both Evolution and Creationism cannot be proved 100% - The chance that we evolved from the big bang theory is about as possible as someone picking the correct lottery number every week for the last 30 years

Glen Morton, a former young-earth creationist who worked as a geologist, has a theory to explain this - he calls it Morton's Demon. This is a "demon" who sits in front of the creationist's eyes and ears and prevents any contradictory data from reaching them, so they are free to construct all sorts of nonsensical systems without fear of contradiction. It doesn't matter what we rational people tell them, they simply won't be able to hear it.
