if it runs off the mains, then its not a problem, if just off the battery then the battery will die

Put it in stand-by. This saves power and your processor doesn't like to be turned off and on. The heating and cooling is not good.

If you don't need it on then switch it off, its better for the environment.

If you need it on then yes its ok with adequate ventilation.
