Yeah, it's great. It forces you to think about the assumptions you make, and how most of us have preconceived ideas about how the world around us.
True there isn't an underlying theory, but there isn't supposed to be, the whole point is about saying. Stop! Take a step back and look at the issue from a totally different viewpoint, and having the intelligence to do so.

I liked it, if you like an intersting take on modern lie try 'How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered the World' by Francis Wheen, its a denser book then Freakonomics but well worth the effort.

I read it. It has some interesting theories, but it's all a bit lightweight and there's no evidence backing them up. For instance the authors claim that the drop in birthrate, rather than policing, is the cause for the fall in crime - but they don't back that up other than by assertion. Still, a fun read.

yep interesting book i like the story about the ku klux klan vs estate agents and the structure of corporate culture amongst crack dealers in chicago. get you thinking out side of the box.
