As long as your computer is running Windows, its unlikely it will ever become nice. Jokes aside:

If you want more performance from your computer,
1) first upgrade your RAM. With upto 1GB RAM your computer will be far more responsive than its today.
2) go for a AGP Graphics card (if supported). This will allow you to play games and increase the utility of the computer
3) go for a quality sound-card and speaker setup. The creative SB Live Value card and SBS5400 speaker setup is pretty good. The new quality of music coming out of the PC will increase its value in your life.
4) If you need any gadgets like USB cards, Firewire cards, Web-Cameras, Headphone-Microphone set, Bluetooth key, DVD Writer etc...go for them.

Im assuming u want to stay put with the idea of changing ur processor.(i.e pentium 3 n dont want to change)
well here are some tips
1) upgrade ur Ram to 512 mb or more
2) Then if there is a possiblity in adding a graphics card install a graphics card
3) Then clean ur system fans and the dust accumulated in it
4) Done

2nd case: willing to change ur processor
1) Change the mother board
2) Change the processor to the latest intel dual core or go for amd there u get better performance for cheaper rates
3) And the Ram let it be a min of 512mb
4) Then the hard disk get a sata hard disk with 10000 rpm speed for better Gaming and a more responsive system
5) Done
i have left u with the above two choices
have a nice day

By becomes "very nice", do you mean "performs better" or is it "looks better"?

If it's the first, then I'd suggest that you migrate to AMD 64 bit Athlon with a compatible Asus M2NBP-VM CSM motherboard and 5+V - 3.3V+ Power supply, I GB + 64 bit RAM and an 80 GB+ hard disc. This will be state of the art, Windows XP 64 will run very well on this and it'll be able to take Windows Vista next year.

Considering that your P3 was 32 bit technology, this will be able to process twice as much data. And AMD is far more robust and value for money.

If you meant make it "look better", then all you need to do is to change the box to a fancier one.

All the best.

Cheers

It depends on if your p3 is still a slot 1 socket...if so you need a new motherboard and try to get an AMD processor. try Pcclub.com

Your question isn't clear. What is a p3? Why do you want to upgrade it? What would you consider "nice"? What do you want it to do that it doesn't do now.

You should throw it out and get a new computer. Are you still running Windows 98?
