I have downloaded messenger 3.00 beta twice now for mac 10.4.8. it repeadetly says incorrect name or password, is it compatible with it?

Yes, Yahoo Messenger 3.0b1 is compatible with Mac OS 10.4.8. I did the upgrade and had no problem. If this happened to me, I would try a few things.
1. Re-enter my info at the prompt.
2. Open Y!M 2.5.3 and see if I got an error there
3. Check connection proxy settings between 2.5.3 and 3
4. Quit both versions and do a spotlight search for "Yahoo Messenger .plist" and delete all that came up. Restart Y!M and re-enter information for log-in
5. Check firewall
6. Check Yahoo! Answers becuase that's all i got. Good luck!

Yes, it should be, but then I don't use YM on my Mac.
