e.g.

You own a house that you would like to sell. You find a house that you would like to buy. The owners of that house have found a house they would like to buy.

The chain is formed by the people that own each house and whether it is broken or not depends on whether the contracts between each buyer and seller are completed, and in many cases, on time.

When it is advertised as having no chain it means that the owners can sell without relying on having to buy another property.

It makes things much easier.

A chain is a string of people all waiting to move into each other's houses as soon as the first in the chain moves out. All the sales depend on someone else selling and moving first.

When selling a property it would mean that the sellers are not buying on eg they have another house to go to or are going to rent a property, this would mean there is no upper chain. If your a first time buyer or have nothing to sell then you would have no lower chan, less problems all round!

In many cases when you buy a house their is a queue of people all waiting to sell their houses, IE, C wants to buy B but B cant buy until A has sold theirs this is called a chain.
Your not going to buy a house anyway just give me 10 points for the info !

It means they don't want anyone who is part of a chain (ie, waiting for someone to move in to their house before they can move into the one they are buying)

it means that the people selling the house arnt waiting for another house to go through so can move out whenever. they are not relying on money from selling there house to buy another meaning in theory the buyers will get in quicker then if there was a chain

No on-going link ie where somebody has to wait for somebody else to sell or move out before they can proceed with their own sale/purchase.
No chain means none of these links.

Means the house is vacant and you won't have to wait for the other person to finalise their move and details before being able to move to the property yourself, nb no chain reaction effect.

A housing chain is when you are buying a house but you are relying on someone selling theirs to buy yours, but they are relying on someone else and so on.

If one person pulls out then the whole chain collapses.

No chains would be first time buyers, someone who has already sold their house and so on.

That system must be a nightmare for buyers and sellers, I thought England was going to adopt the Scottish house buying system, much simpler and quicker.
