The best of Indian languages is Sanskrit which means refined
or unadulterated. It has a difficult grammar and phonetic meanings. It is also known as the language of the gods. Because it is not easily understandable by ordinary people it has gone out of use and the Britishers taught the Indians that it is a dead language . The Indians also keep on repeating the teachings of the English like parrots and even the government of India is not averse to this lie. Even after the Islamic and other Marauders having destroyed vast treasure of literature in Sanskrit, enough is left for life time study for any person wanting to learn.
No language on earth can be as cryptic as Sanskrit.

Sweetest to ears is Telugu....
Unique is Tamil .... it depends very less on other languages.
Popular most is Hindi... national language too..
Rest are all unique in itself, but has more base on Sanskrit, which is the BEST of all languages even in the world,
the unique ness of Sanskrit being the ONLY discovered language, the only compatible language to future computers, the only language that conforms to quantum mechanics theory (of sound, form , vibration -relation).

I think Telugu is a sweet language, as it is called Italian of the East. But every language is beautiful and has its own history, in its own way, so there is no point in trying to grade them, Most of people love and respect their language.

Tamil is ancient, Bengali is classical, Kannada is melodious, Telugu is clear, Hindi is most spoken, English widely used and this list continues so how can we just say which is best. All are the best.

Hindi which is our national and official language and read and understood by almost everyone because it is the daughter of Sanskrit and Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. If someone is telling you about any other language then they simply are misguiding you.

I've just clicked ur question to read the answers & believe me I haven't answer any question in category 'History' till now. I wondered that nobody has mentioned the name of the Literary Giant Rabindranath Tagore(1913- Nobel Laureate in Literature) not only in Bengali but also in his own English words in profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse -- that's a part of the literature of the West. So to me, Bengali is the best...

One request more, I guess u're from South India & u don't know Bengali at all (similarly I don't know Tamil, Telegu also). Plz visit my profile, u'll come across a beautiful poem by R.N.Tagore (translated to English) by him.
