I know it sounds obvious, but I can find no reference in any of my gardening books. My late Granddad and my late Dad grew them.

Yes, I have grown pea plants from dried beans (out of a stew pack), but don't really want to buy a whole packet of butter beans.

By the way, Graham K., if you thing we need to get a life and read books, I assume you've never heard of the pot calling the kettle black?

Butter beans are different than lima beans. I don't know the name of the plant, but in the early spring, look in any seed display for butter beans.

You can grow them from the dried ones... I remember doing this with dried peas and butter beans at primary school.

The Greeks call them Giant Beans, some great recipes for "giant beans" if you search.

Butter beans are also called lima beans and come from the "bush bean plant" Phaseolus lunatus.

i climbed it n i very almost fell whilst i became close to the tip acceptable. fortunate for me the leprachaun that lived on it helped me. he belonged to the great yet escaped whilst the great became taking a sell off. the leprachaun's call became fortunate. fortunate took me the the tip of the rainbow the place he confirmed me his pot of gold. whilst he wasnt finding, i took his gold n climbed down the stalk as quickly as i'd desire to. in basic terms as fortunate became gonna capture as much as me, the great poped out of nowhere n caught fortunate. as quickly as i became on the floor, i set the stalk on hearth so as that neither fortunate or the great would climb down. after that i in no way planted any magical beans. genuine tale.
