SH*T! Nobody told me, didn't realise there was still a ban in Surrey? Don't tell anyone, but I washed the car this morning. I better go into hiding, might flee like a fugitive abroad, keep one step ahead of the 'hose pipe police'.
Seriously has anyone ever been prosecuted for using a hose pipe during a ban? Knowing our local council, they'd lock you up for it!!

Thames Ditton, Surrey here. Just had the most torrential downfall for the last 1/2 hour; if this carries on, I doubt we'll need the ban for much longer.
However, I'm sure they'll keep the ban in place just to irritate everyone. That way, when there's a water shortage next year (because they STILL) haven't fixed the broken pipes, then won't have to impose a new ban because the current one will still be in progress!! And they can fine us, to boot, and make even more money out of us.
I doubt you'll be needing to water your plants, but if it's cleaning cars and paving stones, I'm afraid you're going to have to resort to the bucket for the foreseeable future.

Perhaps it will be when you yuppy guys stop using hose pipes to water your so called perfect gardens.
But then you Surrey Guy do not care and just use hose pipes anyway (Just Joking)....Seriously I am not sure! you know what Thames Water are like! Get as much money out of their customers as possible, while attempting not to spend any on repairs so the share holders (Mainly the bosses) get bigger premiums!

lol. good question. I live in Kent and we have the same problem - we had a hose pipe ban brought in at some point in spring (although there was no offical announcement - it just happened)...and there has been no word as to when it will be over.
I think its a ban for life ;)
