It looks like a prayer to God.
Although I'm a sinner, I have goodness in me
because you created me,
lead me throughout my life
today or in the next life.
I hated writing that because I'm an atheist!

Keypoint, the atheist, did a beautiful job of translating what most definitely is a prayer in poetic form. To just add a little explanation for you, "mean" in this sense means "lowly", "without merit", "sinful". So the man is recognizing that in himself he is all the above. But then he remembers that God is the one who created him and so, as he is made in the image of God, and by God, there is something in him that works against the low and hopeless estate he starts the poem with, and that something is the quickening breath of God.
So, at first he looks at himself and is not happy with what he sees. Then he looks to his Creator and he sees hope for himself in the love and the purpose of God towards himself.
This form of of dialogue with himself is very much like one of the Psalms of the Old Testament of the Bible.
Having thought about the problem, he now comes to a Psalmist's conclusion, and asks God to be his guide throughout his life, however brief, and through death, which is inevitable to all men, not to let him go, but to be with him and lead him even there.
That gives you the nitty gritty of what the poet did in this prayer-poem, and Keypoint did such a wondefully insightful job of the translation, one wonders if he will remain an atheist, or if his own understanding will lead him to the God he denies.
