Well I dont think everyone does. I think sometimes when your priorities and concerns change you put less emphasis on style and more emphasis on cost effectiveness and comfort. I hope that never happens to me. I think it sneaks up on people though. im 25 and work full time and have to hope I never get like that. Lets make a pact to change the face of middle age one cute outfit at a time.

Oxfam is a go place for grey shoes if you need some.
In answer to your main question, there comes an age when you no longer find it necessary to wear what everybody else is wearing, or what the fashion magazines/tv tell you is 'in fashion'. You then start to dress for yourself, not for the approval of others. At this stage you have 'grown up'. (Of course, this applies only to men - women tend to blindly follow fashion to the grave).

Its not just the old people who wear socks with sandals, on holiday this year we saw lots of young lads with socks and sandals, they also wore socks with trainers and button up shirts with shorts, some even had white socks on with trousers, now were is the dress sense in that.

Most small minded people of any age like to make fun of a different generation's dress. Grow up and learn the there really isn't a fashion police.Who do you think is in charge of "dress sense"? Dress how you like(no matter how reticules you look) and let others do the same.

Well I'm 31 and I've not completely lost my dress sense yet...but...I sometimes can feel it going. I sometimes have the urge to reach for a big sloppy jumper for warmth rather than style. I've started thinking things like "ooh its a bit chilly out, I'd better take my big coat"...something that you never do in your teens/twenties. I've started wearing slippers in my house. And I even eyed up a cardy in BHS a few weeks ago but had to slap myself for it.
There's a fine line and its about knowing when to cross it ;o)

30. Or as soon as some people (1) no longer have to attract the opposite sex or (2) have kids and (3) become smug. Then they get into squeaky grey plastic, M&S and nice warm cardies.

What dress sense? I'm 34 and my mum still chooses all my clothes for me.
By the way, what's wrong with socks and sandals? You have to keep your feet warm whilst boiling lentils y'know!

Dress sense will diminish as you grow up and for many it is retained upto 70 years of age. We can see people over 80 years not really concerned about what they wear this is because not that they really not care but the old age makes them loose that sense and also many other senses.

i don't think of they lose their experience of trend yet they bypass extra for convenience and don't probably care approximately cutting part traits from now on. a lot of them have probably "been there and completed that" for years and their priorities have replaced. My mom stated that as quickly as you spot mini skirts or low waisted pants or in spite of bypass in and then out of trend persistently lower back for the time of the years, that it in simple terms isn't exciting or exciting to you from now on. She stated that throughout middle age you have 2 inner voices calling to you. One says, "Why not?" and the different says, "Why worry?" Ha!! : D
