When i say guns i am trying to say that the police would have respect if they had the powers to use the guns if they were approached by pissed up chavs etc! The deterrent should crack the social underclass problem!

Yep i think the USA have it right in this respect. Luckily the UK is much smaller so i doubt it would get quite as out of control as the USA. If we did it now in the UK we might be able to stem the rot.

A comparison with African nations is not fair IMHO and is an exagerration. Im talking about increasing the respect for the police (if they act accordingly) and the scrapping of the welfare state with the money being redirected elsewhere perhaps into education and rebuilding inner city areas.

I certainly agree something has to change, although I am not sure guns are the way to go. But we need to draw a harder line with people who are bringing our society to its knees through draining our resources and making our envirmont hostile and unsafe.

Most probably it would be like Somalia or some African country where there is no law. The citizens of democracy who dont fully comprehend the value and importance of freedom rights may take a look at the parts of the world where citizen rights are absent and the authorities holding guns like in Military Juntas commit blatant human rights violations forcing the people to lead a pitiable and uncertain life. May be UK has problems like any other country in the world but it is a democracy and a model for many countries around the world, Guns are no solution to any problem, they only make life more miserable for the common people.

This is the answer to gun crime.
Starting next Monday the first six people arrested for posession of a gun should be immediately executed with it.
No trial, no messing about. Just shoot them.
Announce in the papers that next Monday it will be the first twelve.
Then declare a gun amnesty and see how many are handed in
Next week? Knives. First six arrested, cut off their right hands. Same principle.
We're all too bloody lefty, liberal, softy and these people know it. The pc brigade will protect them.

Initially it would be utter social chaos. Then militant leaders would rise up and take over. Riots would occur. Martial law would be declared. Other than that, not much would really change. I live in a country where the police have guns and I don't know if they are any more respected than the British police.

It would be bliss... absolute bliss.
At present we are overrun with blaggers, spongers and scum. There being no welfare state would beat them all out of the bushes and then the police could just shoot the trouble makers.
