Well learn more English.....Spend more time on the web...Read out loud.....even for people who are fluent in English there is always room for improvement...If you do go for the interview you may want to tell them about what ever your other language is...Companies do need that too... It is important to have good pronunciation...There is nothing more frustrating than being on the phone with a person you cannot understand. Especially since it is usually about a problem or getting something new...

Here in the US we're used to not being able to understand a single thing the person on the other end is saying anyhow, so it shouldn't be too big of a problem. Besides, the way it usually works is you have a computer that tells you exactly what to say, word for word, depending on the problem. Don't worry yourself too much.
Frustrating though, when it's an american company and yet, they have to have their call centers in india and hire people no one can understand.
Nothing against indians, but I'd prefer americans working for an american country.

hey friend,
As guided by our friends, pls follow them sucha s erading newspapers, watching news channels etc...but when u r going for an interview, first of all be self -confident...that u can do it..
As pe my knowledge, call centre interview mainly deals with our voice, pronounciation..these two are more important..no matter what the sentences may be..but u must speak in such a manner that u should not break the words...be continuous and confident...
k All the Best

Call Center Career - Is It The Right Choice For You Baby?
By - Sandeep Tapaswi
An informal study of the Appointments Pages of any English Daily, shows that there are a lot of advertisements related to Call Centre executives. Despite the sheer numbers in the appointment section, a lot of parents as well as young graduates (especially in Pune) are skeptical about this opportunity. The article tries to analyze the current Call Centre Opportunity by discussing the merits and demerits of a Call centre career for Punes graduates.
Call Centre Awareness
Many parents and students are not aware of the functioning of a call centre. There is a tremendous difference between functioning of an International Call centre and a Domestic one, though the gap is fast narrowing. Most parents look at a call centre job as a job of a telemarketing executive with no growth potential. According to me well informed people are less susceptible to falling prey to propaganda. I recommend few sites which have a lot of information for call centres namely, dmaindia.com, nasscom.org, fandsindia.com and callcentermagazine.com
Who should take a call Centre job?
There are 3 types of professionals / fresh graduates who should take the call centre opportunity.
1. People made for a call centre job
There are some people who are born to work in a call centre. People who are team players, talkative, cheerful, having ability to sell are best suited to work in call centres. Such people will find working in a call centre a very natural job. Infact they are suited to work in any organization where customer interaction is high like hotels, airlines, hospitals, Insurance etc. Such Professionals should not look at a call centre job as a stop gap arrangement but try to go up the corporate ladder of a call center especially salaries of senior professionals in a Call centre are comparable to other high paying sector like FMCG, Private banks & software.
2. Young Graduates looking at a call centre job as a stepping stone
Many graduates can use a Call center job as a stepping stone to further their own career goals. Eg. a Commerce graduate may be planning to do ICWA or CA or MBA. Or an Engineer might be preparing for studying abroad. All these students should definitely explore the Call centre opportunity for the following reasons
1. Augment the economic resources to pay for entrance exams, tuition classes, fees for post graduation etc.
2. A call centre job provides fixed 8 hour working shift, unlike a normal office job which can have overtime, travel etc. which can disturb your preparation for future studies / entrance exams.
3. A call centre job provides a lot of exposure in diverse domains namely Finance, Engineering, Insurance etc.. in addition to exposing you to an International environment. This information is useful for candidates preparing for MBA entrance as well as the GRE / GMAT exams
3. Young graduates who do not have a desired career plan and are ready for any good paying job
There are many fresh graduates who do not have any career plan in mind and are looking at entry level jobs as office assistants, Front office managers, Receptionists, Telephone operators etc. Such candidates should welcome the opportunity for the following reasons:
1. First and foremost, the salary payable in an international call centre at the entry level is more than most other sectors at the entry level.
2. Secondly, the exposure in an International Call centre is more useful than the entry level exposure in most sectors
# What is the eligibility criteria to work in an International Call Centre as a Call Center Executive? Candidates should be less than 26 years of age
# Should be able to speak fluent English
# Most Call centres prefer graduates. Engineers are preferred in Technical Call centres
# Should have accent free speech and should be able to modulate the voice effectively
# Readiness to work in shifts
(Please note that this is the sample criteria offered by most International call centres. Few call centres might have different criteria)
What is the Interview process in an International Call Centre
Usually selection procedure in an International Call centre is based on the following rounds namely Personal Interview, Aptitude, Impromptu speaking, Group Discussion, Typing Ability, Voice Accent, Written Communications, Selling skills, Analytical Approach and English.
Pre Requisites and Interview Process in a Domestic Call center
In comparison with an International Call centre, many Domestic Call centre also recruit undergraduates and there is no upper age barrier. Candidates should have familiarity with atleast three languages, English, Hindi and the local State language in our case Marathi.
The Interview process in a Domestic call center is less cumbersome, but I have noted that a lot of emphasis is given on Selling skills.
How should one approach the call center opportunity
1. Direct Placement
International Call centres continuously keep giving big advertisements regarding their requirements in the newspapers. As the number of openings as well as the number of candidates is high, the companies usually arrange for Walk Ins. These Walk ins also provide a benchmark of your abilities free of cost to you. In case you attend a walk in and are not selected, find time to politely ask why you were not selected. This professional feedback will help you a lot.
2. Recruitment agencies
Organisations also appoint Recruitment agencies for short-listing candidates. The main reason for appointing agencies is that the agencies do the bulk of evaluating and only present the shortlisted candidates to the recruiting organisation.
Due to the sudden demand for call centre executives, the market is flooded with new recruitment agencies. Some agencies charge the candidates, whereas most charge the recruiting Call centres. Off course some agencies charge both. There are also a lot of openings on Job portals. While choosing a recruitment agency, please see the track record of the organisation and ask for references of the earlier placed candidates. Talk with or email the references and check the genuineness of the references.
3. Call centre Training schools
Doing a preparatory training course for Call centres is also a good idea. You may be lacking in a particular skill, and can make up for that skill in the training. The call centre training module also perks up your personality. As with recruiters, check for references. Do not be misled by the marketing talk of the training institutes.
Point to note is that Call center training is a specialised field. Big Call centers have a lot of full time trainers dedicated to the training task. Incase you plan to undergo a training program, do not do a course with an institute with no entry level tests. Such an institute may not be a serious player in the Call Center Training arena.
De Merits of a Call centre job
1. Working in shifts
2. Tremendous stress due to continuous Client Interaction
3. Monotonous work
These are some of the de-merits of the Call centre job. One will have to weigh the demerits against the merits on a personal basis. But looking at the gloomy scenario in most industries, I certainly feel this is an opportunity worth considering.
