Yellow is the color of friendship and jealousy, so don't send those unless he really likes yellow!

I always love getting flowers at my work in front of *everybody*, but I'm a girl.

I'd go with flowers and making dinner at home.

The roses are very nice - but I would go with just one if it's a new relationship. Actually - a lite dinner at home and a movie would be romantic with lots of candles burning and then you could just buy the rose petals instead of the actual rose and let them lead the way to the bedroom and give a romantic massage - Just an idea, I hope this helps. I'm a hopeless romantic at heart! Besides, going out to dinner is great, but not for romance - there's too many distractions.

I would go with the roses. Dinner out is nice, but also something that most close friends would do for a person. The roses is what sets you apart from others.

Yellow roses are associated with jealousy in traditional floral symbolism. Unless this is something that you want toconvey, I'd suggest dinner.

On the other hand, if you know the receiver is fond of yellow roses, why not?

I think getting a dozen yellow roses, without reason or occasion, when you are least expecting it, is romantic.

The roses, but yellow is for friendship. Red is for deep love. There are so many variations now, you might want to pick one of the pinkish creams if you are dating.

Oh and make him dinner, you never know where that might lead.

Romance is not a token gift, like the two material gestures you describe. Romance is a behaviour, a feeling, a created mood of erotic intimacy.

I can be made to feel romanced just by the way a man looks at me.

Receiving flowers or having dinner with a man I don't especially know could never be truly romantic.
