PLEASE do not be scarred, I got to 48 years of age before I would even consider going on a plane because I'm scared of heights too, the only way I would go abroad is by ferry, thats ok if you only want to do Europe but if you want to go see the world then going by plane is quicker, I had to make a decision quick, a dear friend of ours was seriously ill in hospital in Dublin and we needed to get their asp, so it was either a long journey to get to the ferry at Holyhead or a 45 min flight from our local airport, ok yes I was terrified of getting on that plane, but you know it really and honestly is nowhere near as bad as you think it is, by the time you've got settled in your seat and the cabin crew have walked up and down the aisles with their wares a few times and you have had a good old nosey at who else is on the plane its time to land again, I was so cross with myself for wasting so many years of refusing to go on a plane and felt I had missed out on so much, I've been a bit like Alan Wicker since that first flight just a year ago, I've done Dublin 3 more times, been to Greece and even done a long haul flight to Cuba, next Easter I'm going to Australia to see my family that I haven't seen for 25 years because I was too affraid and dumb to get on a plane, please, please do it, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain and you will really wish you had done it years ago I can gurantee you will, don't let your life pass you by because of a fear, face it.

Quite recently there was a similar question to this on Yahoo.,you should have read the answers to that! You are scared that you will crash and die,not of flying. When you travel by bus, car, train are you scared of crashing and dying? I doubt it.Flying is much safer than any other mode of transport, it is quicker more comfortable less crowded and relaxing. Imagine that you are sitting in a room full of friends reading or chatting or watching a movie; because that IS what you are doing. There is absolutely no reason to be alarmed. I have flown in aircraft from a two-seater Cessna to Concorde, there is nothing like it! You will enjoy it once you make that first step.

I am 51 years old and never went anywhere because of a fear of flying, but last year my family clubbed together to send me to Paris for my birthday, i was scared stiff but really wanted to go, when we got up in the air i loved it and really regret waiting so long! I want to fly again somewhere soon! Just feel the fear and do it anyway!

omg yes i absolutely couldnt think of anything worse. i hate getting on the aeroplane and all the noises it makes you'll be going along fine and sometimes you hear the engines stop(well its obviously not the engines) but it scares me to death. This one time we had a plane fly over us and to avoid being too close we just had to drop. i thought i was going to die as they didnt tell us until after this happened!! i get on an aeroplane everytime thinking i'm never gonna make it home! its terrible i need to see some one about it!

be positive. if it is serious you could seek counselling or hypnotheraphy. if not so serious, then try bach's rescue remedy to calm yourself.
