to tell the truth... no i am not taking the piss! at the age of 17 i hav already beed educated in 3 differnet countries (including france), am trilingual, am in year 13 studying with expected A2 grades of AAA... i have been researching unis for a while now and know which ones i am interested in based ONLY on the course not the parties! and now all i am asking is which ones would also have a bit of a social life because i am curently stuck in an all girls boarding school in north wales i therefor think i deserve a little bit of a social life for a change so you can shut up about me wanting to waste my education and just use the tax payers money so i can party! because really i am quite smart and a very responsible young girl so don't worry your taxes won't go to waste with me infact they will be spent on me doing a course so after uni i can get a good job working in 3rd world countries trying to better the world instead of sitting on my *** doing nothing to help society and complaining!

Any London uni would have a high international student population. But if you want a good social scene, you ought to avoid London. They aren't "campus unis", a lot of the students live at home and did not come to London especially for uni, which means the social scene isn't so great because because not everyone is as concerned about making new friends. A friend of mine stayed in halls and said the only other people in halls of residence are the international students, and they were very cliquey, and he felt excluded. Also London just doesn't have the student scene that other cities do.

I would strongly recommend Southampton- that's where I went. All my friends who came to visit loved it and said it was the best uni they'd seen. There is a huge social scene, every club has a student night and there is somewhere you can drink for cheap every night of the week! My friends from London unis all said they wished they went somewhere like that.

Plenty of other towns have similar communities I imagine- look for a campus uni in a mid-sized town, preferably a town that has 2 univiersities, and you can't go wrong.

I went to the University of Surrey, it has a fab social life - loads of clubs, societies and sports clubs to join, 6 bars round campus (4 in the students union building) 6 restaurants (3 combined with the bars). Loads of stuff going on in the union, something big on almost every night.

The uni itself is close to town which has 3 nightclubs and tons of pubs, bars and restaurants. There's also the leisure centre nearby with lots going on there.

However for rating of all the universities by the students, there's a guide here: http://www.rokstudent.com/theguide/ obviously it's going to be a little biased, but look past the ratings and read the reviews, that'll give you an idea.

As to variety of international students, I'd guess both Oxford, Cambridge and the London universities are fairly diverse. Surrey, from being there, is also very diverse, students from UK, Spain, France, Portugal, Greece, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Germany, Italy, Libya - and those are just the people I've met! I'm sure there's more.

I went to nottingham and the social life was ace. There are about 14 bars on campus and the city itself is one of the best centres for clubs and bars around. They've invested loads of money regenerating it over the last 5 years. The campus is absolutely beautiful. Having also done a degree in London i can recommend being somewhere pretty, much cheaper and on a campus! There are thousands of international students there because the campus idea is very safe.

Ok, ive known lots of people who went to Uni and from what i've heard, the best UK University for a social life would be Brighton or UEA. I wouldn't recommend Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Anglia Ruskin or London Metropolitan University...
And Im not sure which would be the best London University....im sure you'd have an amazing social life at any of them!

You're supposed to going there to get an education which I might add is funded in part through tax payers money. Shouldn't you be asking which is the best uni to advance your understanding and attain a degree worth having. Instead of having a great social life and then becoming a burden on society because you couldn't give two fcuks about learning

for the best social scene Southampton is probably the best...
but Kings College London is the best when you consider all the options- outstanding reputation as a centre for international study, rated 46 on the world university rankings AND KCLSU, the students union is the most pro-active union in the ULU (university of london union).

With Kings you get the great experience of attending one of the best universities in the world, having an absolutely packed social life and living in London, the best city in the world (in my opinion!).

As for students at kings staying at home and not in residence... that's not true, a lot of people within the M25 ring road will stay at home because they just can't get in to the residences, which are full to the brim with students from every corner of the UK and the rest of the world.

check out the kings website at www.kcl.ac.uk

Hope this helps! and good luck with exams and stuff!

(as you can probably tell, I go to Kings...)

Impossible question to answer as only YOU can define the word "best". What's best for you is not best for someone else. Depends what you're looking for. Personally I always thought what mattered was the course? As for the second part of your question, I've no idea. Again that would depend on the courses they run and how many international students are living in the area and/or who wish to attend that particular course.

Seems its right to say "it Does depend on the course". But since i live in London, and have attended three university, and have been to events by two others... From my experience I'd say, Kings College, where i study now Computer Science and Management...

If you're good with joggling cswks and study... then you're in luck, because there are like 11 active sports Society's, from rock climbing, frees-bee, canoeing, rowing, and so on... and on Three Major campuses there are neat bars, with affordable-priced drinks. Every Thursday and Tuesday there are "club" nights on top floor of Strand Campus for example. Other campuses have their own, but similar "Night Out". Oh did i mention there are approximately 35% of students are foreign? And Ration of girls to guys is 50:50. Do the maths, one Of Top universities in the UK, and you have great, good looking (girls in my case), and intelligent people to get yourself acquainted with, and have a great time. every other week in fact, if you like.

And to make things ever more better to this answer... Covent Gardens and Soho is like 5 mins walk away... so especially if you live on campus (10mins avg from strand, since i study on strand. it makes little difference, other campuses are 5 -10 mins away by bus, so well-close too)... you can have a superb student night out every night if you like, there are regular student night promos there. You'd get to meet students from UCL, IMPERIAL, Westminster, since they're all nearby....

Its my opinion although, again i am not aware of your chosen course, but for engineering, maths, English, and computer science.... i love Strand, Kings College, London.

oh yeah, another little thing, foreign students love to go to Walkabout bar, which is near-opposite uni, above Temple station. Every Wednesday, Students Night.

So far, i don't complain.

PS I've previously studied at LondoMet, and Westminster.

My buddy is going to reading Uni. genuinely loves it. extremely large area, a extensive sort of stable bars, shops, eating places.. extremely incredible recommendations for ranges and local accomodation is extremely much less costly, in all probability suited to stay in the college Halls to your first 365 days so which you would be able to settle into your degree, then 2d 365 days bypass right into a house share, there are a extensive sort of large deals on accomodation regionally too. Plus, yet another benefit is which you would be able to take in basic terms some steps from being in the city to being in lush eco-friendly geographical area. additionally its the homestead to reading pageant =D. x
