You know, I can't say for truth if it is or not, but around my house it is. It will jump back and forth between my 2 cats and 2 dogs and my husband and myself. All of us will be in the same room together, and one of the dogs will yawn, then I will or hubby, then the cats go at it and then we just can't stop it. Sorta funny actually.

People/pets who yawn after seeing someone else do it, have a greater level of empathy than others(showing you feel for other peoples emotions).
So i guess as dogs go, it will show empathy as dogs can pick up on your emotions, while cats have very little empathy cos they usually care for noone but them selves.

What a good question!
Unfortunately, I don't have a scientific or provable answer (as I've noticed in the above answers), but I have NOT observed it to be the case among my pets.

Not usually...
If it does it only means that either your pets are psychically linked or it's just a coincidence!
