The development rate for 18-21 year olds is currently set at £4.25 an hour this will increase to £4.45 on 1 October 2006
The development rate for 16-17 years olds. This rate is £3.00 an hour. This will increase on 1 October 2006 to £3.30 an hour

I work with low income families and there are many who have both the mother and father working at or just above minimum wage. Yes, a lot of people make more than $5.15, but $5.25 or $5.50 is still too low. So these people would be impacted by a raise in the minimum wage as well. 75% of the people who make minimum wage are age 25 or older, it is not solely for kids in high school, as the republican leadership touts. The workers planting bushes around new houses, or cleaning hotel rooms, or working as general laborers on new construction are barely surviving.

The age discrimination act has just come in, so everyone, no matter what age, within a company now gets paid the same, so the universal minimum wage is now around £5.30, but it's increasing again soon...
