i also had severe preeclampsia. Im preg. again and im on asprin 81mg. this will help reduce the risk of getting preeclampsia again. the 81mg is low dose so it has no affect on the baby. I made sure. I just got too see my baby and im having a boy his so cute. and doing great. Also make sure you go to the doc. and get alot of ultra sounds done, bec they can tell if you might be getting it, if the babys not growing like it should. I hope this helps. take care!!!!!!!

"About Preeclampsia"
What is Preeclampsia?
Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms.
Typically, preeclampsia occurs after 20 weeks gestation (in the late 2nd or 3rd trimesters or middle to late pregnancy), though it can occur earlier. Proper prenatal care is essential to diagnose and manage preeclampsia. Preeclampsia, Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) and toxemia are closely related conditions. HELLP Syndrome and eclampsia are other manifestations of the same syndrome. It is important to note that research shows that more women die from preeclampsia than eclampsia and one is not necessarily more serious than the other.
Preeclampsia and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading global cause of maternal and infant illness and death. By conservative estimates, these disorders are responsible for 76,000 deaths each year.

I have had three children, all three times with preeclampsia. With my first, my blood pressure began to rise at about 32 weeks. I was on bed rest, and was induced three weeks early. He was fine- 8lbs 3oz. With my second, I had only the high blood pressure part from 30 weeks on. She was small, 6lbs 8oz, but the healthiest of the three. With my last baby, my blood pressure began to rise at 20 weeks. I took aldomet and atenelol, and I made it to 38 weeks -she weighed 8lbs 5oz. I did have to see the doctor every three days for the last three months and have non-stress tests each time. I am also (two weeks later) still having to take it easy, but I am no longer taking the medicine, and I'm getting back to normal. Your preeclampsia was obviously worse than mine, but discuss the medicines with your doctor and GOOD LUCK!

you only have one kidney and have had preclampsia twice ,do NOT even go there. you would be killing yourself and your unborn baby and leaving two other babies motherless

WOW!!! I would not chance it!!! How many kidneys do you have? Be thankfull for the two children you have , and don't risk your life until they are grown and no longer need you to take care of them...B.T.W.....I thought preclampsia was caused by fungus/mold from cat litter boxes that were "unclean"????
