I found an extremely old afghan in a truck and the yarn is just full of dust. What is the best way to get rid of the dust without ruining the piece?

I wouldn't wash it, since it's probably made of wool. Have it professionally dry cleaned, that way it won't loose it's shape. Old afghans were steamed and blocked to maintain their shape. It will stay fresh for many years. You have a treasure!

Call a craft store, particularly one that sells or specializes in knitting yarn, and ask them how an old Afghan should be cleansed. If you do it wrong it could be severely damaged so please get advice from a professional.
