Sadly you don't hear many parents speaking nicely to their kids anymore.
I didn't realise this until an elderly lady stopped me in the supermarket and said how nice it was to see someone behaving affectionately towards their children, instead of shouting and swearing and that you don't hear this often nowadays.
I wasn't sure at the time but was more aware of what was going on around me afterwards and and after a few days I realised that the lady was right.
What a shame.
