I am a smoker and i don't smoke around other people's kids. It is wrong, but i think labelling them as child abusers is a bit harsh.
I think the answer is education not punishment.

I think that's a bit extreme. I think they're a bit stupid, but not necessarily child abusers. If that was the case should we lock up all the parents that feed there kids junk food and let them get overweight.

Saying that like, if these were made into criminal offences, the poor kids of today would have a better chance!

Don't know if you should be taken that far, but i think that something should be done in order for people to realise that harm that they do to thier kids while smoking!!

My mum was over the other day with my little sister, who is 7, and my mum says, ok we'll just have a smoke then we'll go, then she corrected it and said, i'll just have a smoke then we'll go, but the 1st statement was correct. The truth is we were all having a smoke before she left, but people just don't get it!!!

Yes definately, not only are they polluting their childrens lungs but are making it more likely the children will grow up to be smokers.

I smoke but never ever in the house or car when the kids are there.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I am more concerned with parents that allow their children to become thugs, who then end up terrorising people. Are these parents to be classed as child abusers?
Or what about parents that get "Rat Arsed" on a regular basis?

Most defintely is should be classified as child abuse. Child abuse takes on many guises these days.

When I look back I suppose I abused my kids as I used to shout at them, when they were driving me up the wall.

I think it should be considered yes, because in effect they are poisoning their children. We are slowly moving towards a ban of smoking in public places to protect non smokers like bar staff etc, it surprises me that there is no talk of legislation to protect our most vulnerable people.

Yes i agree with you they should be put behind bars ,for one puff of smoke 1 year imprisonment is that sufficient or should we increase the punishment

If they take cigarette breaks outside And take turns with the kids it is alright. You can not classify them as child abusers...
