I hate when I go to the mall and everything is geared towards the female persuasian. Basically, if you are a "male" and you're shopping at the mall; you're either going to one particular store or your scouting or picking up on chicks. On the other hand, maybe you are shopping for your girlfriend or spouse. In conclusion, they should just call any mall you go to or most malls in America "A place for women to Buy things". I know it's a lame name for a place, but I think you get the jist.

Interesting but tricky question. Why women? well, in most cases they are the ones responsible for the purchasing of house hold goods, mainly fast moving consumer goods such as the food, salt, milk, chocolate, washing machine detergents, soap, shampoos etc. Companies target this segment of women; usually identified as females 30+ - purchasing decision makers - married with children, reside in urban areas.
This means that companies spend advertising $ to reach and convince these women. Men on the other hand do some shopping, but stick to the household essentials and do not do it as frequently as the females.
Do not forget that men are more likely to save and invest rather than spend them on non essentials. No wonder women are the spenders

Because women are the ones who get STUCK with the chore of buying things. Men hate shopping as a rule and as you say they just go in and get out..unless its a hardware store of course...then they stay for hours. A lot of men dont/wont even buy their own clothes once they get married. Ergo the malls are geared towards women. Good thing too becuase if they went after men's business they would have lingerie models as attendants, chain saws as decor items and a beer hall as the food court.

I agree, it's historically been the woman who did most of the shopping, while most men prefer not to spend hours on end at the mall, trying things on, or picking out that 'perfect' gift for Aunt Jane in Tuscon. I know very few men that actually ENJOY shopping.

Women have inherent desire to acquire and possess things. Therefore they are the largest consumers in the retail market.
