What my son did was he made the framework out of a toy building system that has magnetic pieces (connexts) then covered it with brown paper.
It also depends on your grade level. You might also want to do a cut away drawing to show the inside or a drawing showing how they built them. Remember to get a good grade you want to do MORE than just what the teacher requires.
