Honestly, you can't tell any difference from an American and a Canadian. The ONLY difference is the politics, and the few French Canadians. Notice there is no real visible border line or fense in the U.S-Canadian border, like Mexico. Canada is all dry cold and moose populated country, when the USA is over crowded by people and cars.

WEATHER (Canada would be a bit colder with longer winters).
SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT (monarchy, represented by a governor general who has actually no power to govern but serves as a fulcrum for parliament; and a prime minister, representing the party who has managed to get most seats in the House of Commons, and can keep the votes of over half the seats)
LANGUAGE - Canada's two official language are English and French
POLITICS - we have more of a variety of successful political parties, we may be slightly to the left of the USA but are still quite a conservative country

One major difference would be that Canada tends towards the left side of the political spectrum, providing more social services, higher taxes, and less money to the armed forces.

Blackman, as a Canadian I take offense to that.
We are more different than you can imagine. It's not just politics. It's the general attitude. We welcome immigrants and recognize their contributions to our great Country. At the same time, we don't insist they must become just like us. They are welcome to keep their original identity, along with taking on a new one. That's the idea of the Cultural Mosaic, VERY different from Your "Melting Pot," where those who don't assimilate completely always remain second-class citizens.
We also don't start wars.
Just the 2 most glaring differences off the top of my head.

There isn't that much of a difference. My best friend is Canadian and the only time that I remember that she is not American is when she mentions some Canadian star or when she tells people, "I'm Canadian".
