Cuz I mean this IS america, we ARE a "melting pot" not every bodys great great great great great granddaddy got off the mayflower.... sure we should teach kids about how this country was founded! But don't you think we should also teach them about why certian immigrants came to America back in the day too? Or even why people are still immagrating here? And also more about slavery? These things are important parts of America's history also!
Maybe it was just the school's I went too....but we never learned about things like this in history classes, everything I know I had to learn on my own.

how about MORE truth about slavery. I was taught that the Civil war was fought over slavery. This isn't true, no way possible. Occam's Razor will tell us that comfortable white factory workers in the north would not have left their families to go and free black slaves in the south. Imagine the recruiting p[osters... HOGWASH I say.

All I can tell you is that I grew up in the South and we WERE taught quite a bit about slavery and immigration, considering that was a main part of our history. If you are disturbed that children in your area are not being taught enough about it, go to PTA meetings and make suggestions or write the school board and suggest that they teach more about how our country was founded.

Well, over here in Britain, our history lessons ridicule you guys for the use of Slaves after we abolished ours *which, conveniently, is covered up as 'a bad time in the empire'*
