I was in that airport last week. It was my first trip also. The airport is nice and very much clean. Yu can get some typical Kyoto sweets in one of the shops before immegration. After this, yu can see plenty of shops. But prices are always on the higher side. if yu fly by JAL, yu can shop onboard! Other than this, yu neednot worry for anything. People there are very much helpful. I was totally at ease there. Enjoy yr time there!

Lots of places to eat on the mezzanine floor, so you can take your pick: Japanese, Chinese, Western, etc. Shopping is not that good although you can get lots of little Osaka souvenirs.

If you want to get out of the terminal for a bit, you can cross over to the hotel next door. Its lobby overlooks the new half of the airport so you can see all the construction going on. Kansai is really an engineering marvel. There's also a cafe in the lobby, if I remember correctly, and it isn't too expensive.

The big downside to KIX, both economically and practically, is that it doesn't have good airline lounges, so frequent fliers don't like to connect there. If you're flying on a cheap coach ticket this probably won't make a difference though.

The terminal is very nice--awesome architecture, decent seating, clean all over (as you would expect in Japan).

Kansai airport is a great airport and the quality of the facilities is outstanding. It's also fairly easy to navigate around to find shopping and eating facilities as well as immigration and your departure gates.

For shopping, the majority of the shops are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors and the duty free shops are located after immigration in the international departure area. As for food, the majority of the restaurants are Japanese cuisine, but there are a few non-Japanese restaurants, you just have to look harder to find them.

Next to Singapore I think Kansai is the cleanest airport on the planet. I've only been there once, so I don't dare to call myself an expert, but I remember the sushi there was great.

Shopping wasn't attractive because things were a bit overpriced.

Shopping and Restaurants are expensive, but the airport istelf is very clean and nice, compared with Narita International AP. I think you'll have a good time there.

the main inexpensive way could be to take the prepare from the airpot to osaka, then take a prepare to kyoto. the least complicated way is to take an instantaneous prepare from osaka to kyoto (yet this would value extra). As for numbers, they do no longer use numbers, in basic terms place names, so which you in easy terms would desire to locate a prepare that asserts kyoto. if uncertain, there are thousands of folk to ask contained in the stations, in the event that they do no longer communicate english (that's unusual for station workers in enormous towns), you may in basic terms say "kyoto" and teach your value tag, they are going to assist you comprehend the platform huge form.

Hi
Its good airport, well set out, there are restuarants which are ok, nothing to write home about, I think the shopping is better after clearing immigration. From memory I dont think there are any shops after the train you need to take to get to your gate.
