Knowing everything about is a tall order. I will provide one piece of info since I am Australian.
Australia doesn't have presidents, it has prime ministers, the Head of state is the ruling british monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II. The current Australian Prime Minister is John Howard. He has held office since 1996 making him the second longest serving PM.

For one thing we don't have presidents we have Prime ministers. Aboriginals were here before the first fleet arrived in 1788 in Botany Bay. We have 6 states and two territories and they are (my home state) New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia, the territories are Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory which is where our country's capital is, Canberra. We are a multicultural nation, but are known for throwing a snag or a prawn on the barbie(barbecue)

Here's a link to a forum thread, that cover alot of Australia's 'ignored' history and connection to the Americas in ancient times.

and where we seem to be heading now;

it's not 'main steam', but if you read through them all carefully, you will see it's a much more 'important' country, than 'the powers that be', want anyone realizing, just yet.

Remember, we have the Worlds largest single supply of Uranium on top of all our oil, gas, coal, gold and just about every other mineral. And it isn't a dangerous, infertile waterless place either; quite the opposite.

First - no presidents in Aus. Prime ministers, as we're still part of the commonwealth.
The best site to visit, which has HEAPS of info, is http://www.australianexplorer.com It has history, places to see, and a heap of other stuff. Other than that, come visit us!

Try the lonely planet website. It will give you maps, fast facts and even has forums that you can visit. Even though it's mostly for travellers, it's great to find quick info on a country.

If you aren't happy with that try the Australian Tourism Site and the Government Site.
