I used to have that dream re-recurring everynight for years when I was younger, and also one where I fell in a pond and when I tried to swim to the top there was like a celephane over the top and I would start to drown but then someone would always save me.

These are apparently what the cliff dreams mean:

Cliff

1. If you are scaling the cliff, this augurs a difficult climb either socially or careerwise. If you reach the top, you’ll succeed.

2. Standing on the edge of a cliff indicates obstacles ahead that can only be averted by taking risks. If you jump off the cliff, you’ll choose to take those risks—and if you land safely, all will be will. But if you fall off, you’ll feel you have no choice.

3. Diving off a cliff, or seeing someone else dive off a cliff, indicates welcoming a challenge.

it is a common dream in many people. most dont remember it, some do.

yes i have had that dream many times - night before last, if i remember correctly

this dream is a indicator of the stress and pressures of our daily life. also our sleeping patterns. we watch telly and then just fall asleep, not giving the brain any wind down time, which is very important for a soothing sleep

try this atleast once a week :

try to relax and wind down before you sleep, dont listen to loud music or keep the tv on before you sleep. dim your lights about 1-2 hours before bed time, take a long bath and listen to soft low volume music, relax before bed time, which should reduce your dreams, as your brains gets a chance to unwind before you fall asleep

i have the falling dream occassionally and i do hit the bottom but i bounce. i think it means that i need to purchase a massive inflatable body suit and throw myself off things. maybe its my calling in life. according to craig hamilton-parker author of the modern day classic "the hidden meaning of dreams" falling dreams may be a metaphor for loss of emotional equilibrium. either that or a premonition that you're going to die a sudden and tragic death.
