Well, I was always a sprinter, and only recently started running longer distances on my own. So, I know I could finish a mile, easily, but I have no idea how fast I would be. Who knows? It could be interesting. How about a 400m? That's more my kind of race.

I dunno about winning; I have no idea of your capacities. But at the very least I'd make you work harder than you probably ever have in your entire life. And I'd do it without even breaking a sweat.
I can guarantee that finishing will be far from a problem for me. Even at this age I run further most days than most people now walk in a week.
Question is, if we make it more interesting by setting the course over rough terrain - including a few decent walls to vault or climb, dikes to clear and furrowed tracts to negotiate - and maybe stretch it to a mile or more extra in the rain would YOU finish?
I mean, any pansy can run round a nice even track in their inflatable trainers while they sip Lucozade or something, or do a properly manicured field on a fair day. But could you take the power out there in to a more demanding environment and still keep up with men who routinely run such races on a Sunday morning just for the joy of it?
Would YOU win over, say, a five mile cross-country, rough terrain grind? Or would fear for your ligaments and tendons weigh heavier on you that the rain bearing down on your shoulders, and make you run like a frightened girl instead of like a hunting man? :oP

Probably you would win - because you are the gymfreak.
But I would finish race, for sure. And not much after you.

You would win, but I would be able to finish.
If you would still be waiting around at the finish line to see me finish is another question all together ;)

Most certainly, because I would be on the back of a horse! You only stipulated the race was over 1 mile, you didn't specify whether we could cheat or not!...

You would win and I would finish. I'm 65, a bit out of shape, and inclined to run a bit slowly anyway.

Yeah, I think I would have a pretty fair chance... If it was a mile through the scrub I think I would win
