I don't know the bride very well, but she has told me that weddings in finland are very formal occasions. They are getting married at 3pm, (it gets dark at about 1.30pm that time of year) by candle light. What can I wear that will keep me warm, but still look elegant?
Is it a complete no to wear knee high boots under my dress?
Being from the UK and only experiencing very mild weather I don't have many warm clothes. Also, I am a student and on quite a tight budget. I would like something that I will be able to wear again should another formal occasion arise.
I'm only 23, and I want to look classic, but not like an old lady. Please help!!

Yes, it is very cold in Finland in December! For this wedding you should wear a long coctaildress with a woolcoat (but fur is of course the best) when you are outside. The dress should be long enough to cover your feet so that you can wear boots when you are outside. When you are inside you take of your boots and coat and put on high-heeld shoes. This is what people usually do in Sweden, where we have the same climate as in Finland. Good luck!

Presumably you are a guy - so you want to wear a black suit or tuxedo. With it you can wear a tie if the formal event takes mostly place in the afternoon. In your case it sounds as if most of the festivities will be late afternoon and evening (unless you do not attend the reception and go home after church) then you should wear a bow tie - burgundy or black. Vest is optional for either day or evening event. Wear a white shirt, but not a button down collar, as these are more smart casual then formal. It can be a white shirt with normal collar or a tuxedo shirt (but use only bow tie for tuxedo shirt). Wear polished black shoes, but not the high polished lacquered kind. A nice extra can be a folded white handkerchief in the left breast pocket. A new haircut is also not a bad thing for formal events. Have fun.

you should consider the lbd (little black dress)it is very classy .if the weather is really cold wear stockings and a little jacket that will keep u warm and not cover the whole dress at the same time. u can also add some accessories to the dress so u won't look plain. u can wear this at any occasion. i don't wear boots with a dress, instead, wear flats. boots will go better with a short skirt.

good luck with finding ur outfit.

I love long dresses. My bf prefers the brief ones. So my wardrobe is stuffed w/ 1/2 and 1/2.
