People with handicaps often have a more philosophical and mature perspective on life than those who have never had to struggle with difficulties. Why did you break up? How severe is his learning difficulty? Some people with spina bifida get university degrees and do work too. Could your friend get special training to be able to work? He would feel great to have accomplished that. His mother may still remain his social security payee to make sure that his needs are met until you could manage that task. Sometimes it is very difficult.
If you want to have children, you may consider that when one parent has spina bifida, there is about a 4 percent chance of passing the disorder on to the baby.
In your decision to marry your friend, you should consider what commitment you would be making to take care of him. Now you can enjoy his company apparently while his mother takes care of his needs. If you think that you can handle that, then go ahead. If not, you can still be close friends with this guy and have a more traditional boyfriend. Examine what your motives are as regards to why you love this person and you will be able to answer your own question.

True love only comes once in a life time. Follow your heart.
Don't be swayed by things that you can't control.
There are so many children out there that don't care about whom their parents are, they just care if their parents love them.
If you REALLY DO LOVE HIM, then think of how you will feel without him. It sounds complicated. But it sounds like you belong together.

You love him so marry him! It shouldn't matter if he has a disability. If you truly love him, you'd see beyond that. You'd be lying to youself if you spend your life with someone else since you know that your heart belongs to him. You know it, you've said it yourself so go for it! Please don't ask his mom whether he'll be able to have kids or not. You guys can overcome obstacles if you truly love and support each other. Good luck and best wishes..........

Marry him! Talk to his mom too, she's going to be able to give you so much help and advice, so it's going to be important to keep her informed of what's going on. Good luck!

If you really love him, then do whatever you have to do to be with him - life is too short to worry about the ins and outs of things
