First of all ignore Richard W. This is a front wheel drive car and that procedure is for a non-drive wheel bearing. Second of all if you haven't done anything like this before, you may want to consult a mechanic. First jack up and support the front of the car. Next after removing the tire take off the break caliper and hang it with a coat hanger of something to avoid hanging by the break hose. Next remove the caliper bracket and rotor. Now you will need to remove the spindle nut, lower strut bolts, tie rod end nut, and then split the tie rod end. Next you will need to remove the lower ball joint nut and split the lower ball joint. Take the entire hub assembly to the nearest auto parts house and have a new bearing pressed into the hub. (you may have to GENTLY tap on the end of the axle shaft with a brass hammer to get it to slide out of the hub assembly). Careful not to damage the threads on the end of the axle shaft. Also it should be noted that this vehicle will probably need to be alligned after the repair is completed.

jack up the front of the car and support it with a jackstand.
or lift it with a hoist.
remove the wheel, remove the brake caliper (support it and tie it up) and rotor.
you then need to remove the cap, cotter key and unscrew the nut.
then the hub should come off with the bearing.
there is an inner and outer bearing, best to replace both.
you may need to drive out the races and press in the new ones.
grease and install the new bearings.
carefully put the hub with bearings back on the shaft.
install the nut, tighten until it starts to bind the hub, back off til it turns freely, install the cotter key & cap.
reinstall the rotor then the brake caliper; finally the wheel.

call quite a few vehicle restoration centers the place you reside and ask for estimates on aspects and exertions......costs would be in each and every single place in spite of the shown fact that it may pay to make some calls and shop funds.....stay removed from Pontiac sellers - they are going to rip you off huge time in this restoration.......driveway mechanic*******

Try your local library. Most have repair manuals! (Also you might be able to find the book you need on-line and have it waiting for you... Also you can order manuals from other libraries state wide) I know that you can do it from any of ours! Good Luck!
