As Indians are much influenced by white people who are the worst racist on the planet, they started to think that light-fair skin is better attribute just like other races viz Chinese, Greek, Italians, middle eastern etc. Also as India is so diverse with hundred of sub-cultures and languages it is natural to have differences, see in Australia Chinese, Greeks and Italians are still discriminated even they are here for more than 5 decades because they represent different cultures and charcteristics.
People are more comfortable to interact with their own kind.
India is still better you can born as lower caste, sikh or a muslim, black or white and still become President and Prime Minister can this happen in some western country, no way, they even won't let you enter their parliament in Australia if you don't have blonde or brown hair with a immaculate white skin.

Egoism and differences of opinion is a universal factor and it is not peculiar to India or Hindus for that matter. There is difference of opinion between Sunnis and Shias. So do Catholics and Protestants. Both the Muslims and Christians hate Jewish people.
If a New Yorkers visits Texas and says so "Oh! you are from the east" in a deragatory manner. A Tokyo person has a poor opinion and ego problems with a person from Hiroshima. Similarly the West European has ego problems with the East European.
So the situation is not peculiar to India and be rest assured that this is a universal factor.

Our Society and Country was divided by our own rulers and foreigners who ever came to india. The root cause remains the money. Even today, rich are becoming more rich and the poor are becoming more poor. There is no will and guts in politicians to eradicate this neusence at one go because it serves their own exhistance. Today even higher castes are ready for getting to have family terms with lower ones provided they are rich but still few old ducks quack we have to neglect that and go ahead for the better tommorrow. Changes can be made by convincing people that what ever new generation wants in this case let them do.But our ediot politician still they want to play quota game for vote bank and spoil the future of our country, Such politician should be hanged as our constitution says that it does not recognise such cast and creed all are equal for it. Why is the supreme court overruled again and again by the idiot politicians ?

Because we live at the superficial level mostly. We identify ourselves with our body. It is out of this body concept
we tend to think that we are bigger and far more different than others. This is deep rooted like stains on religion. When we go
deep into our own heart where all realm of our little general
knowledge ends, an awakening dawns where we are one.
If we want peace and happiness, all duality must end - for
duality is but ignorance at the core of pure consciousness
where there is no comparison at all. This is an elevated state of
spiritual well-being where we accept and not reject each other.

It's all about SELF RESPECT and your belief. It is well known that our country is a sovereign country and any sort of discrimination should not prevail, but there are some silent and sensitive issues like religion and community which spoil the whole idea and make a mockery of all the systems deployed by the government to eradicate such stupid things from the society. So.... Hope you got your answer.

Well, I agree with you partly. I don't think it has anything to do with hatred. In south india, most men want to marry women who are light skinned and that comes with the culture. it's really sad that you have to make your child who is dark skinned feel consciouse about that. so why don't you stop that from happening to your generation?
I remember as a child, i was considered dark and it stuck with me even as a teen and a adolecent, then i came to america and i started loving it cause men here loved my skin color so much that i stopped thinking negatively about it.
I am married to a white man and he loves who i am and loves my beauty and i have two beautiful children! So see in the end i win.
that is why indian parents should never put their kids down like that and give them a complex of being dark skinned.
I think it's ignorance that makes people think of it this way...

I think it can be boiled down to the fact that the Hindu Indians like Cherry Slurpees, while the Muslim Indians like Grape Slurpees. This appears to be an unresolvable parting-of-the-ways. Hopefully, a political settlement will be found to end this problem.

You said it! EGO!
Just as God made the foreigner with certain character traits, so also He made Indians with certain traits. Perhaps due to the many ceturies of being ruled by 'Goras' whom we looked up to, we Indians still seem to have a Complex--that the foreigners with gora skin are any day superior!
In addition, if there is one common trait amongst us, as a class, it is that we are constantly bickering about our differences, and do NOT UNITE!
So we want to see the differences, and how we are superior--EGO!

Ego means has meaning self importance, A all Indian families traditional joint family, runned by one family head, his belief and disbelief are accepted without any arguments. So this has created a Complex that what our neighbour, Friends, Relatives think of us. all above confusion is because of it only. Regarding the Mar rage same thing is applicable because we had been ruled by whites of more than 300 years by suppressing all over feeling, emotions, faiths and others all is of about complex

its because of less generation gaps as compared to others. having less generation gap is a good thing. it reduces splits, household tension& at last a feeling of security is always there.
but if gen gap has pros it has cons too. the question u asked is the darker side of having less generation gap. due to less gaps the traditional unscientific thinking are just passed on to younger generation so easily. also a major reason is competition which indirectly arises due to population.as competition increase gelousy increases, thus giving rise to ego problems. eg. most of it professionals are from south india. why? because there is a cut throat competition in it sector in south as compared to north.
