TRINIDAD, Colo. — As the Bush administration promotes a widely praised multibillion-dollar effort to end chronic homelessness in cities like Washington and San Francisco, a growing outcry is rising from rural areas that worsening problems far away from urban centers are being overlooked.
Rural homelessness has always taken a back seat to the more glaring problems in cities. Most studies estimate homeless people in small towns account for about 9 percent of the 600,000 or so homeless nationwide. But local officials and advocates for the homeless in small towns say that economic distress in recent years, including closing plants, failing farms, rising housing costs and other troubles, has left more people without homes and in greater need of help.

yes I have. I don't know maybe I'm way off base but I think if we made it so the churches got the money instead of politicians the homeless and those down on their luck might have a better chance of getting the help they need. I don't want government in my life period at least above what they were intended to do in the first place which is protect us from enemies. Look at education we spend more money on kids now a days then ever before and the money never reaches them because it goes in the pockets of sticky fingered bureaucrats. I sure long for the days when we paid far less taxes and if someone in our neighborhood needed help we helped. But now we have a government that has grown so big it has almost become useless. OK off my soap box

this is a distorted view of people. u.s. is a mix of just about each and every (if not all) nationalities on the planet. although maximum everybody is white, everybody with a citizenship is American, no count what their race is. l. a. is a terrific occasion of a mix of races, as all great cities in u.s. are like this too. And there are accommodating human beings and rude human beings of each and every race here. No race is under yet another. confident, some neighborhoods are drug ridden and crammed with gangs. And confident, maximum of them at the instant are not dominantly white. that would not supply you the desirable to decide everybody in keeping with stereotypes. stay out of those neighborhoods if it makes you sense extra perfect. And u.s. is a gorgeous u . s . a ., as long as you tuck away your bigoted perspectives on human beings.
