Maxwell (James Clerk) 's equations of Electromagnetics proved the speed of light was constant, and further experimentation led to calculating its exact velocity.

Of all the physics equations, Maxwell's are belieed to be the most irrefutable. His experimental and theoretical work in electricity and magnetism (soon combined into Electromagnetism) brought the realisation that light was an electromagnetic wave and that it must move as such.

They got it to run around a track and timed it with a stopwatch &)

Seriously though, they used the secondary factors fo the speed of light, (all those other equations with c in them) and measured those, and worked backwards.

Well, first of all,
it is 30,00,00,000 m/sec.
Scientists calculated it using different theoritical equations.. and also confirmed it experimentally..
